Project description

The vault room for the permanent exhibition of the Kosice Golden Treasure is located in the central part of the 1st underground floor of the East Slovak Museum. The material-spatial design is based on a clear layout of glass exhibition cases on the perimeter walls and suspended glass cylindrical cases hanging from the ceiling in the centre of the vault interior.

Exhibits of the treasure found on 24 August 1935 on Hlavna Street in Kosice:

– 2,919 gold coins from the 15th – 17th centuries and one gold Thracian coin Lysimachos from 323 – 281 BC.

– 3 gold medals from the 16th century

– a Renaissance chain from the 16th century

– metal box

The layout, materials and architectural composition is based on the principle of a chamber exhibition in the dark with illumination of rare exhibits in specially secured wall and central display cases.
