Profile of Slavomir Dluhy

Designer / Architect

Born in 1964 in Kezmarok. He graduated from the Secondary Industrial School of Woodworking in Spisská Nova Ves with a degree in Art – Furniture and Interior Design and continued his studies at the Technical University in Zvolen at the Department of Design. Already during his studies he worked in art and architectural studios.

He started his professional practice in major Slovak furniture companies, for which he designed industrial design of furniture intended for mass production.

In 1991 he founded his own studio focusing on interior and product design. In the process of creating, his focus expanded to architecture.

The foreign experience gained during his many internships in Italy, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia over the past periods is applied in his innovative designs, inspiring ideas, for a creation of an extremely inspiring and totally unique character.

He is currently focusing on public and private sector projects as a designer and licensed architect:

In his projects he strives to combine creative processes of discovery and unpredictability, along with a detailed understanding of function and materials used.

While applying new innovative materials and technologies with traditional arts and crafts, it also provides an entry point for artists to co-create and incorporate artworks in interior design and architecture.

In almost thirty years of creative activity, he has more than 80 projects of his own, many of which have been awarded.

He currently lives and works in Prague, Bratislava and Kosice.
